This beautiful Victorian era bustle wedding gown dates from 1890. It is made of an off white ivory pleated silk fabric with silk grape appliqués sewn on the front. The bodice has a high neck, silk ribbon sash around the waist and hooks and eyes for closure down the front. There are fifteen stays sewn inside the bodice with the makers label "Pogue Cincinnati" printed on the waistband. The bodice measures 18 inches long on the front, 14 inches long on the back, with a 22 inch waist, 32 inch bust and a 12 inch back. The skirt has a slight bustle back built into the lining with a long draping ribbon of silk bows. There are hooks and eyes for closure. It measures 40 inches long in the front, with a 48 inch long train in the back and a 25 inch waist. This wonderful wedding gown has an elegant simplicity. It is in good wearable condition with only some slight soiling along the bottom hem and one small split on the back of the skirt train. There are several splits in the silk skirt lining inside. Someone has added later snaps for additional closure on the gown.
