Crinoline Hoop Cage Skirt. |
| This
Victorian era crinoline hoop cage skirt dates from the 1880s. It
is made of wired hoops wrapped with linen. There are long linen
straps coming down from the waistband attached to hoops along the
bottom with an adjustable buckle front for closure. The front of
the cage has a checker board of criss-crossing linen straps. It
measures 30 inches long, with a 24 inch adjustable waist. This rare
hoop cage is in good wearable condition with only a few bare wires
where the linen has worn off. There is a small area in the front
which needs to be reattached. See bottom photo for close-up of damage.
