This exquisite Edwardian era black silk velvet and lace coat dates from 1910. It is made of a textured black silk open cut work window pane style fabric with small black silk velvet squares. There are black lace floral appliqués sewn around the collar, cuffs and down the front. The coat has long full sleeves with wide rolled cuffs. It is fully lined in black silk with an open front and no proper closure. This fabulous Arts & Crafts style traveling coat has beautiful workmanship and design. It measures 42 inches long, with 60 inch hips, a 50 inch waist and bust and a 17 inch back. The coat is meant to be worn loosely which was the style. It is in excellent wearable condition with only a tiny pin hole on one sleeve which is barely noticeable. The color is a true dark black which has been lightened to show the detail in the photos. The pictures do not do the coat justice.
