This vintage Japanese swallows of spring kimono dates from the early 1950s during the Showa Period. It is made of a dark navy blue silk rayon blend fabric background with supplementary weft lacquered thread work woven into pink birds of the swallows of spring motif. The kimono is all hand stitched and fully lined in red and pink silk with a "Made in Japan" label tag sewn inside the neck. This unique kosode kimono might have been worn by a mature married woman. The kimono measures 57 inches long, with 22 inch long sleeves, and is 54 inches across the shoulders and sleeves. It is in excellent clean wearable condition. This is a wonderful piece of wearable art.
