Wool Paisley Shawl Cape Cloak. |

| This
Victorian era antique wool paisley shawl cape cloak dates from 1900.
It is made of jacquard hand loomed woven wool paisley fabric done
in natural dyes of brown, red, green, blue, black and white. This
custom handmade cape was made from an early antique Victorian era
woven paisley shawl with a small black wool star shaped center on
the back. These shawls were hand loomed and made in Kashmir, Persia,
India, Russia, USA and Europe. Many were made in Paisley, Scotland
which was at one time famous for its weaving and thread industries.
This fabulous full floor length cape cloak has a wide fold over
shawl style collar, with black silk soutache work trim edging the
back and front lapel, and a decorative large black silk tassel hanging
down the back. The paisley has been beautifully pieced together
and redesigned to create this exquisite cape. The cape is fully
lined in a sage green silk fabric, with arm hole slits, and an open
front with no closure. It has a stunning style and wonderful workmanship.
The cape measures 45 inches long, 20 inches across the shoulders,
with a 57 inch bust, and a 72 inch bottom circumference. This very
unique fashionable cloak is in excellent clean wearable condition
with only a tiny moth hole on the back which is difficult to see.
It is a wonderful piece of one of kind wearable art. $650 |
