Embroidered Manchu Woman's Surcoat. |
This
antique Chinese embroidered Manchu woman's surcoat dates from the
1920s. It is made of a black silk satin fabric. There are a variety
of colorful flower roundel medallions, butterflies, and pomegranates
embroidered throughout. The coat has yellow, white, and blue silk
trim around the neck, sleeve cuffs, front opening, and bottom hem
edging. This fabulous floor length surcoat style robe has a round
neck, front closure fastened with black silk loop toggles, and tiny
carved brass buttons. It is fully lined in a blue silk fabric. This
magnificent Manchu woman's semiformal domestic surcoat is all hand
stitched. The coat measures 48 inches long, with 48 inch hips, waist,
and bust. It is in excellent clean wearable condition. This is truly
a beautiful one of a kind piece of wearable antique Chinese textile
