This Victorian era mourning black silk ruched velvet stand-up collar cloak cape dates from 1890. It is made of a black silk satin fabric, with gathered pleated ruched trim edging, ruffle accent around the shoulders and velvet yoke insert. This magnificent mourning mid length cloak cape has a stand-up collar, gathering around the shoulders, a full circular style, with hook & eye closures down the front. It is fully lined in a lovely lilac purple silk damask brocade fabric, with a Chinese floral butterfly pattern design and inside pocket. The cape measures 28 inches long, 20 inches across the shoulders, 16 inches around the neck and is 88 inches in circumference along the bottom. It is in excellent wearable condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable Victoriana mourning textile art!
