This antique Chinese purple silk damask floral brocade figural embroidered trim robe dates from the the mid 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is hand stitched, made of a bright royal purple color silk damask weave floral brocade fabric. There is a white silk trim collar and edging with beautifully hand embroidered colorful Chinese women figures, flowers, butterflies, the Ji character for luck and pink silk damask brocade ribbon trim with more colorful woven flowers. The white silk sleeve band cuffs have colorful silk embroidered flowers and butterflies. This magnificent Manchu womens robe has a blue silk embroidered mandarin collar, cinnabar color embroidered shoulder epaulettes, black silk knotted loop toggles for closure along the side, long full sleeves with wide cuffs, side skirt vents and has been fully relined in a blue silk fabric. The robe measures 38 inches long, with a 54 inch waist, chest and 29 inch sleeve cuff circumference. It is in good condition, with only a few tiny pin holes, age spot stains on the sleeve cuffs (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable antique Chinese art!
