This rare pair of gentlemen's Victorian era black leather Colonial shoes date from the 1870s. They are made of black leather, with a side button strap across the instep vamp for closure. These unique high fashion Colonial style low cut shoes have a broad tongue outside extending above the instep. The shoes are done in the style of the 1730s, with exaggerated squared toes. They have low red leather heels; which originally meant that you had been received at Court. The shoes measure 11 inches long, 3 inches wide, with 1 1/2 inch high heels. They have some wear to the leather, with several scuff marks, scrapes, and a small rip in the leather on the front instep of each shoe. These would make for a wonderful display item, and are a rare find.
