Early Esté Paris Label Black Silk Lacing Ladies Straight Sole Shoes. |

This pair of antique early Esté Paris label black silk lacing ladies straight sole shoes date from the 1830s. They are all hand stitched and made of black silk with black silk ribbon bow trim on the front vamps. These French ladies ballet slipper style flat shoes have black silk ribbon laces, squared toes, straight leather bottom soles with no left or right distinction. They are lined in white kid leather and linen, with the original paper label still attached inside of one shoe from "Esté r.dela Paix, 13 Paris". The shoes measure 9 1/2 inches long and 2 inches wide. They have been gently worn and are in good condition considering their age, with some fraying of the silk along the right side of each shoe (see close-up) and the ribbon lacing ties are frayed. These are a rare and early find which are a deaccession from the Montclair Art Museum. |
