Victorian Black Chenille & Red Velvet Bonnet Front view.

This Victorian era black chenille and red velvet bonnet dates from 1890. It is made of a small wired frame covered with black chenille, straw and sequins. There is a large red velvet rosette decorating the top. The inside is trimmed in dark blue velvet and lined in black silk with a "L.E. xaGallager - 1619 Chestnut St. Philadelphia" label. There are combs attached underneath for securing atop a large Gibson Girl style hairdo. This sweet small bonnet would be perfect for a antique doll, but was actually worn by an adult which was quite fashionable at the time. It measures 7 by 7 inches and is in excellent wearable condition.
