This antique silk brocade gold metallic cap dates from the early 1800s. It is made of an early ecru and brown silk brocade fabric with a floral sunburst design. There is gold metallic lace trim sewn along the front. This early cap style bonnet hat would have been worn by a young girl or child and could be of European origins. It is all hand stitched and fully lined in linen. The cap measures 18 1/2 inches outside circumference around the face and is 6 inches high. This fabulous folk cap does have some wear with fraying along the silk on the back seam.
