Victorian era blue wool felt tricorn ladies hat dates from the 1890s.
It is made of a rigid tricorn style shaped frame covered with a
dark navy blue wool felt fabric. The hat has an upturned brim and
small round crown. It is trimmed with dark blue silk and velvet
ribbon. This rare unique shaped hat would have been worn on the
back of the head secured with a hatpin. It is lined inside the crown
with black polished cotton fabric. The hat measures 17 inches inside
crown circumference, is 13 inches across and 3 inches tall. It is
