This vintage black straw plaid ribbon veiled ladies hat dates from 1938. It is made of a woven black straw, with black and white plaid iridescent silk taffeta ribbon trim around the hat creating a decorative front bow. There is a black veil draping down the front, and an elastic band underneath to secure the hat. This unique diminutive doll style ladies hat is done in a sailor boater style with a small brim, and tall crown. These tiny hats were meant to be worn far forward on a women's head. There is a "New York Creation" label sewn inside. The inside crown measures 11 inches in circumference, and outside is 26 inches. It is in excellent wearable condition, looks to have never been worn.
