Black Net Feathered Wide Brim Hat & Pin. |
This
antique Edwardian Titanic era black net feathered boa wide brim
hat and pin dates from 1912. It is made of a wire base covered with
a delicate sheer woven black net horse hair and feather trim. There
are a variety of feathered trims; black ostrich, black and white
emu feathers which is attached to a black sequin beaded trim on
the front. There is also an amazing Art Nouveau beaded embroidered
ornamental hat pin stuck onto the side which is created in the shape
of a peacock feather. This beautiful grand hat has a wide brim and
a large round crown which would have sat atop a Gibson Girl style
hairdo and secured with the accompanying hat pin. The hat measures
53 inches in circumference outside and 24 inches in circumference
inside the crown. It is in good wearable condition, with only a
few tiny holes in the net. Along with the hat is a full fluffy black
ostrich feather neck boa which could be used as added trim for the
hat or worn around the neck. $250 |
