This
antique Victorian era black silk veiled jet beaded mourning bonnet
dates from the 1870s. It is made of layered draping black silk fabric,
with black jet beaded trim sewn around the front. This veiled mourning
bonnet has the original hat pin on the back. It is lined with a
ruched silk around the face and a polished cotton back. The bonnet
measures 17 inches in circumference and the veil is 37 inches long.
It is in excellent wearable condition and is a rare example of a
full mourning style bonnet.
