Embroidered Toque Ribbon Hat Bonnet. |
This
antique Victorian Civil War era embroidered toque ribbon hat bonnet
dates from the 1860s. It is made of an off white fine wool fabric
with cream color silk raised padded satin stitch embroidery work
done in a floral vine leaf pattern. There are narrow off white ivory
color silk ribbons woven and looped around the base and trimming
the top. It is fully lined in an off white netting and fine linen.
This lovely ladies petite toque style bonnet hat has a small round
brimless crown, with a pink silk ribbon tie for securing under the
chin and small rosette ribbon work trim on either side. The hat
measures 19 inches in circumference and is 2 inches tall. It is
in excellent wearable condition, with only a tiny moth hole on top.
