Gentleman's Dunn & Co. London Black Top Hat Leather Case. |
This vintage Victorian era gentleman's Dunn & Co. London black top hat and leather case dates from the early 1900s. It is made of a plush black beaver felt fur, with a black wool hat band and black grosgrain ribbon trim binding around the brim. This dashing dapper gentleman's opera "topper" top hat is quality made and includes a leather case for storage. It is fully lined in white silk, with a "G.A. Dunn & Co. Picadilly Circus London" label inside. There is an attached black cord with metal clip inside for attaching to the wearers coat collar lapel perhaps by a hansom cab carriage driver. The hat measures 5 1/2 inches tall and 22 inches inside crown circumference. It is in good wearable condition, with only some slight soiling discoloration around the inside hatband. Included is a leather case, lined in a quilted fuchsia pink silk fabric, with shipping label from "Herbert Johnson London". There is some wear, cracking to the leather, with an outside broken strap closure.
