This Victorian era beautiful French antique beaded needlepoint chalice canvas dates from 1870. It is made of a colorful embroidered needlepoint canvas with a outer floral wreath, crown of thorns and golden chalice in the center. The square is covered with a iridescent vaseline glass beading and decorative blue glass beaded border. This stunning religious square was made either for an alter piece or pillow cover. It measures 19 by 19 inches and is quite heavy from all of the beads. The square is finely done and in good condition with only a few missing stitches and a small mend on the side.
