This rare matching pair of antique green Dresden Plate quilts dates from the 1930s. They are all hand stitched and quilted and made up of colorful cotton print dress fabric pieces and feed flour sack. There is a mint green colored background and quilted white backing with a beautiful ice cream cone scalloped border. There is also nice crosshatch and outline quilting. The pattern design is called "Dresden Plate" and there are hand appliquéd oak leaf floral designs in between the pattern design. There are two matching quilts which is truly a rare find! These quilts have been beautifully hand made by a very fine and skilled quilter with wonderful workmanship and detail. They each measure 104 by 90 inches and could easily fit on a queen size bed. The quilts are in excellent clean useable condition. One quilt has been laundered and the fabrics are now a lighter color than the other quilt which has not been with the colors being brighter. These quilts are a beautiful piece of antique textile folk art.
