Clamshell
Flour Sack Quilt. |

| This
antique Clamshell flour sack quilt dates from the 1930s. It is hand
stitched and pieced with colorful cotton print dress fabrics and
feed flour sack. This multi-pieced block pattern is called the "Clamshell"
and resembles rows of clam shells or fish scales. This Clamshell
quilt pattern is considered one of a high level of difficulty due
to the complexity of piecing the connecting convex and concave edges.
The quilt has been beautifully hand made and has a white quilted
backing. It measures 80 by 93 inches and is in excellent clean useable
condition with only one small piece of fabric with a bleach spot.
This is truly a beautiful piece of antique textile folk art. $250 |
