Samurai Yuzen Hand Painted Noren. |
| This
antique Japanese samurai yuzen hand painted noren tapestry dates
from the Showa period. It is made of a white linen fabric background
with hand painted yuzen dyeing which resembles silk screen woodblock
print designs. The center design is of a samurai warriors full armor,
sword and longbow. There is a circular blockprint border and the
artists signature in the bottom corner. It is lined and backed in
a golden olive green colored fabric which also edges and borders
the cloth. There is a paper label sewn onto the back. See bottom
photo for close-up. This large noren (doorway curtain) tapestry
could also be used as a wall hanging. It is beautifully hand done
with wonderful workmanship and detailed design. The textile measures
64 inches long, and 36 inches wide. It is in excellent clean condition
and is a wonderful piece of antique Japanese textile art. $150 |
