This rare antique Chinese Deity Immortals wall hanging dates from the early 19th century Qing Dynasty. It is made of a peach colored silk fabric with silk raised padded satin stitch embroidery work, and gold couching work. There are hand embroidered Chinese figures, blue birds, cranes, bats, and flowers. The figures are beautifully done, and the center figure is of Shou-Xing the God of Longevity and Old Age which is a Chinese deity. There are also children and Chinese Immortals. The immortals are legendary beings in Daoist beliefs said to have attained immortality through studying natures secrets. It is backed in a blue linen lining. This unique early wall hanging banner measures 87 inches long, and 32 inches wide. It is in as-is condition, with several splits and fraying of the silk. There is also some age spotting foxing on both the front and back fabric. This is a wonderful piece of antique Chinese textile art which needs some restoration.
