This unusual shaped hand crafted hat has a large lotus blossom flower on the front which is a sacred Buddhist flower, and symbol of purity. There is a phoenix bird on top with silk fringe collar, and two more on the sides. The phoenix represents female goodness, with good fortune, opportunity, and luck on this Chinese girls open crown hat. These Han Chinese children's hats were designed to provide protection from evil spirits, demons, and ghosts, but also to influence the wearing with important qualities such as wealth, health, courage, academic success, happiness, long life, grace, and beauty. The hat is fully lined in linen, with a cloth tie strap for securing under the chin. This wonderful artistic hat measures 16 inches in circumference. It is in excellent wearable condition, and is truly an unique piece of antique Chinese textile art making for a wonderful display piece.
