This pair of Chinese bound foot lotus slipper shoes were made for the tourist trade. They are made of antique fabrics of pink silk, with hand embroidered raised padded satin stitch purple flowers on the sides. There is colorful narrow silk trim outlining the embroidered designs, and black silk trim edging the top and bottom. The shoes are all hand stitched, and have small black cloth heels, and quilted linen cloth bottom soles. These small delicate slipper shoes measure 3 3/4 inches long, 3 inches tall, and are 1 inch wide. For over a thousand years Chinese women's beauty was judged by the size of their feet. The ideal foot was three inches long and shaped like a lotus bud flower. These unique little slipper shoes are in excellent condition, with only some minor wear. These are truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of Chinese textile art, and would make for a wonderful display piece.
