This antique pastel embroidered floral bird Canton piano shawl dates from the 1920s. It is made of a black silk fabric background with colorful pastel silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work. There is a lavishly lush floral foliage vine leaf and bird dense design completely covering it. The design has a variety of birds and flowers. There is a fabulous hand knotted macramé black silk fringe which measures 28 inches long surrounding the entire shawl with rounded corners. The shawls fabric square measures 53 by 53 inches. This exceptional quality made Manton Canton Chinese Cantonese style Spanish Flamenco shawl is quite heavy weighing over 3 pounds. It is in good wearable condition, with only a few tiny pin holes, wax droplets and 2 small old re-woven mends near the center which are difficult to see (see bottom close-up). This is a wonderful piece of wearable embroidered textile art.
