This antique Edwardian era black velvet gold print peacock hurricane eye cyclone coat dates from 1915. It is made of a black velvet fabric, with a printed gold peacock hurricane eye of the storm cyclone swirling pattern unique design. There is green braided silk trim edging and sheer brown lace covered cream silk sleeves. This exquisite evening opera coat has a mid length, loose fitting, boxy swing style, with gathered shoulders, long full sleeves, hook closures down the front and has been fully relined in a green silk fabric inside. The coat measures 33 inches long, with 60 inch hips, a 60 inch waist, 50 inch bust and 21 inch long sleeves. It is in good as-is condition, with a small fray on the front top insert, back neck seam and several brown stains, with frayed holes on the cream silk sleeve lining (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable textile art! |
