This vintage red and white silk embroidered Chinese butterfly peony pajamas pants, robe date from the 1930s. It is made of a white silk fabric, with contrasting cherry red silk raised padded satin stitch embroidery work of peony flowers and butterflies. Included in this two piece lingerie lounging pajamas set is a long mid length robe style coat, with long full sleeves, a mandarin collar and carved round brass button toggle closures down the front. The robe measures 41 inches long, with 46 inch hips, a 46 inch waist and 44 inch bust. There are matching embroidered loose fitting pants, with wide flared pant leg cuffs, a V front top and elastic back waistband. The pants measure 40 inches long, with a 23 inch inseam, 50 inch hips, an adjustable 24-30 inch waist and 30 inch pant leg cuffs. It is in good as-is condition, with some slight small age spots, water stains on the robe and the elastic is loose on the pants waistband. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable Chinese textile art!
