This vintage white cotton batiste embroidered Maltese bobbin lace peasant dress dates from the 1920s. It is made of a white cotton batiste fabric, with pleating, raised padded satin stitch embroidery work, drawn cut work, fish net mesh inserts with appliquéd flowers and bobbin lace Maltese cross motif trim. This lovely lace peasant style dress is loose fitting, has a drop waist, fold over collar, squared neckline with side snap closures along the front panel, long full sleeves with split slit openings, tie cuffs, a fitted waistband, apron style front over skirt and is sheer, unlined. The dress measures 48 inches long, with a 36 inch waist, 40 inch bust and 21 inch long sleeve. It is in good as-is condition, with only two small frayed holes, breaks in the lace on the front top panel (see close-up). This is truly an exquisite piece of wearable lace art!
