This Victorian era antique black chantilly lace pagoda sleeve robe dressing gown dates from 1860. It is made of a sheer fine black net chantilly lace. There is a finely done decorative floral, leaf design outlined in black threads with shading and a beautiful scalloped border edging. The lace has been created into a lovely lingerie dressing gown robe, which is loose fitting, floor length, with side front waist gathering, a pleated flounce drape panels on the back skirt sides, long full pagoda style sleeves and an open front with no closure. It is sheer and unlined. This lovely lace has been pieced together from a mantilla shawl for the bottom skirt, a Civil War style jacket top and the pleated gathering design resembles a 1920s style cocoon wrap robe. The robe measures 46 inches long, with 36 inch hips, a 34 inch waist, 36 inch bust and 14 inch back. It is in good wearable condition, with a few tiny pin holes and small mend repairs (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable antique lace textile art!
