This antique Edwardian era embroidered Japanese dragon pongee raw silk parasol fabric cover dates from 1910. It is made of an off white cream color pongee raw silk fabric, with silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work of a long serpentine dragon chasing a pearl. This pretty pongee parasol summer umbrella fabric would have been used to cover an antique parasol. The circular fabric measures 35 inches wide across, 16 1/2 inches long from the center and is 106 inches in circumference. It is in good usable condition, with only a small frayed hole near the center (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of Japonism Oriental textile art! $50 |
